Requirements:

  • 21 years of age or older
  • Good health
  • Height and weight proportional
    See the height/weight chart for specific details.
  • High School diploma or GED
  • No record of felony or domestic violence conviction
  • Good moral character
  • Good credit history
  • Valid drivers license
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Ability to complete examinations and interviewing.

Physical Agility Test: includes scaling 4' wall, running, trigger pull and ability to carry specific amount of weight. Watch the video.

Written Examination: Each category requires minimum of 70% to pass.

Interviews and Background Process: Includes background checks and in-person interviews with Professional Standards Unit, Staff Review and Polygraph. Additional procedures will include in-depth background check, drug screening, physical and psychological testing and personal interview with the Sheriff.

Application

Please submit an application (either online or paper) and a copy of your Driver’s License for consideration to Human Resources. Once your application is submitted, your name will be put on the official notification list to participate. Formal notification of the testing will then be made via U.S. Mail to the applicants.
